ACTIVE CLASSES

The active class list represents classes that have raced in the most recent outdoor season.  Classes from the active list with 5 or more entries on race day will be run as part of the race program. Any classes that falls short of 5 entries may be ran at the race directors discretion, that decision will be made based on total entries and heat count on race day.

Oval & Off-RoadNovice

This class is for entry-level drivers (first year drivers, and children under 13, etc.). Both cars and trucks will be permitted to race in this class. As driving skill becomes evident, these drivers will be graduated to more advanced classes. No age limit. No weight restrictions. Typical types of vehicles in this class are 2wd electric trucks and buggies or Traxxas Slash.

Chassis: Any Chassis that is manufactured for R/C racing that retains its original configuration. The car/truck must conform to stock class associated with that vehicle and can be 2WD or 4WD.

Motor: Open Motor Rules, any motor is allowed.

Batteries: 2s (2cell) Lipo Only – see general rules, batteries (March 2008).

Speed Control: Any speed control system that does not cause radio interference.

Suspension: Any fluid/spring shock that maintains configuration similar to original kit. (After-market A-arms, rods, shock tower, drive axles o.k.)

Steering: Rods, servo-mounts, etc. may be replaced with after-market equipment in the interest of durability.

Transmission: Standard gear reduction transmission and stock gears, provided with the kit. No 2 speeds.

Wheels/Tires: Any over-the-counter available wheels/tires (exception: no dual wheels).

Bodies: Any body in scale to the vehicle/chassis (exception: no wedge bodies in any class).

Ball Bearings: Allowed.

Air Dams: No side dams. Rear spoiler allowed, it may not exceed the width of the body and may not extend more than 2 1/2″ past rear of body. Front: Also not to exceed width of body, or extend more than 2 1/2″ in front of body.

**NOTE: This class is not an alternative if you have ever raced in another class other than novice stock.**

OvalOpen Oval Breakout

This class is intended for racers looking to compete in close BREAKOUT racing. 1/10th Open Oval is a “Run-What-Ya-Brung” breakout class with the breakout time set at 12 seconds.

Basic battery rules apply.

Example of cars that have run in open oval are:

  • B4 based Street Stock
  • 1/10th Stadium Truck
  • Traxxas Rustler/2wd slash, Slash 4X4
  • 1/10th 2WD/4WD Off-road buggy
  • Home-made 4wd oval truck.

The only true rules for Open Oval are:
1 – The car must be 1/10th scale (or smaller) and no bigger in overall length and width than a Short Course Truck.
2 – You can’t maim or injure anyone with your car!

Off-Road2WD Shortcourse

This class is intended for racers looking to compete in a 2wd electric Modified class, with realistic looking short course trucks. No weight limitation.

Base Vehicle: Any Manufactured Electric 1/10th scale 2WD Short Course Truck

Motor: Open

Batteries: Roar approved 6 or 7 cell sub C battery pack, 2S Hard Cased LiPo battery or LiFeO4 Battery– see general rules, batteries (April 2010).

Speed Control: Open

Suspension: After-market replacement parts allowed.

Steering: After-market replacement parts allowed.

Transmission: Must use the stock differential housings or direct replacement aftermarket replacements. After market gears are allowed as long as they fit inside the stock housings. You may use Silicone diff oil, upgrade plastic gears to metal, and install factory supplied options.

Wheels/Tires: Any tire/wheel that is specifically made for Short Course racing is allowed. The tires/rims must fit within the confines of the body, with the front tires pointing straight. No 1/8th scale tires/wheels

Bodies: Any Short Course body is allowed.

Air Dams: Not allowed.

Spoiler: Not allowed.

Gyros: No gyros allowed.

Off-Road4WD Shortcourse

This class is intended for racers looking to compete in a 4wd electric Modified class, with realistic looking short course trucks. No weight limitation.

Base Vehicle: Any Manufactured Electric 1/10th 4WD Short Course Truck

Motor: Open

Batteries: Open

Speed Control: Open

Suspension: After-market replacement parts allowed.

Steering: After-market replacement parts allowed.

Off-Road1/8 Buggy Electric

This class is intended for racer wishing to race 1/8th scale off-road nitro powered buggies. After-market parts are allowed, but stock configuration must be maintained (wheelbase, front and rear tire width, ride height, etc.).

**The driver must be 14 years old or older. The driver should have some racing experience.**

Motor: Any motor designed for 1/8 scale racing

Battery: Lipo hardcase only no more than 4s and no more than 8000 mah Capacity.

Transmission: Must use original transmission. Any spur/clutch gear combination allowed.

Wheels/Tires: Any wheel/tire manufactured by the industry intended for 1/8th scale buggies.

Bodies: Any body specifically made for 1/8th scale off road buggies

Air Dams: Not allowed

Spoiler/Wing: Stock 1/8th scale buggy wing allowed

Transponders: Must be mounted away from fuel, exhaust, and hot surfaces.

**Note: You MUST be an experienced marshal over the age of 14 to marshal the gas heats and/or mains.**

Off-Road4WD Mod Buggy

This class is for 4wd 1/10 scale electric modified buggies on the off road track. No weight Restrictions.

Chassis: Any manufactured chassis that retains original configuration.

Motor: Roar approved 540 brushed motor or any brushless motor (March 2008).

Batteries: Roar approved 6 cell sub C battery pack, 2S Hard Cased LiPo battery or LiFeO4 Battery– see general rules, batteries (April 2010).

Speed Control: Any system that does not cause radio interference

Suspension: After market equipment, such as arms, rods, shock towers, allowed for durability

Steering: After market equipment is allowed for durability sake.

Transmission: Any original kit transmission case. May replace internals, but must conform to ratio/reduction requirements. Must execute two reductions between motor and drive, the second being no less than 1.50/1.0 by gear, belt, or chain. All 4 wheels must be powered.

Wheels/Tires: Any tires specifically manufactured for 1/l0th scale buggies, no dual wheels.

Bodies: 1/10 buggy body only.

Ball Bearings: Allowed

Air Dams/Spoiler: No side dams allowed. Rear spoiler may not exceed width of the body, and may not extend more than 2 1/2″ past the rear of (or front of) the body.

INACTIVE CLASSES

Inactive classes may be resurrected if 5 or more entries are present for a race day.  Running of additional classes need to be approved by the race director prior to race day.

OvalMudBOSS Slash

RULES ARE SIMPLE, THIS CLASS IS MEANT TO BE ‘SPEC’ AND ALLOWS FOR CLOSE COMPETITION ON EQUAL GROUNDS FOR ALL. THIS CLASS IS ALSO MEANT TO SHOWCASE THE BEST DRIVER AND ALLOW FOR FUN! NO SECRETS OR ‘VOODOO’. IF YOU WANT TO HIDE YOUR CAR OR RUN SOMETHING THAT YOUR COMPETITORS CAN’T RUN, THIS IS NOT THE CLASS FOR YOU. IF YOU WANT TO HAVE FUN IN A CLASS WHERE DRIVER ABILITY IS KING, YOU HAVE FOUND THE RIGHT CLASS.

1 BODY

1 Salvas MudBoss body only (2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 version)

1.1 – Any minor modification to the body must be approved before being allowed

2 CHASSIS

2.1 – TRAXXAS 2wd (SLASH or RAPTOR) chassis only
*** 2.1.1 TRAXXAS Low CG chassis is now allowed (May 2018)
2.2 – Original MFG suspension parts only, no other parts allowed (such as from RPM)
2.3 – Original MFG chassis parts only, no aftermarket hop-ups, no optional aluminium parts
2.4 – Front bumper, right side bumper and front body post brace must be removed
***2.4.1 – Left side and rear bumpers can also be removed (if desired) **rear RPM bumper is allowed**
2.5 – TRAXXAS front optional bumper (TRA2735) can be used (angled down)
2.6 – Major alterations to the chassis or modification to drivetrain/suspension components is not allowed
2.7 – TRAXXAS Low CG chassis is allowed on CARPET / CLAY TRACKS (not mandatory)
2.8 – Electronics (rx/esc/amb) must be installed within chassis surface (no outside installation)
2.9 – Battery brace can be trimmed to allow different LiPo battery wire configuration

3 ELECTRONICS

3.1 – ROAR legal 13.5 sensored brushless motor (Modified/13.5 Spec) http://roarracing.com/approvals/print_brushlessmotors.php

3.3 – Original TRAXXAS 2075 servo
***3.3.1 – The ‘SAVOX SC-0252MG
Digital Servo’ is allowed, this is the only alternative servo
3.4 – it is allowed to ‘pin’ the servo saver(white) or bell crank(black)…be advised the servo gears might get broken under a heavy crash!!!
***3.4.1 – original TRAXXAS plastic servo saver/bell crank only (white or black system) it is allowed to mix the components (ie.. black servo horn with white bell crank)
****3.4.2 – It is allowed to use a solid (one piece) servo horn (any brand)
3.5 – 2-cell 7.4v LiPo battery with a maximum of 5200mah and 50c, with external plug only (no ‘bullet type’ connector)

4 ADJUSTMENTS

4.1 – TRAXXAS 76/83/86/90 spur with all transmission parts in place (slipper) See Rule 6.4.1 For specific DRRC Rule
4.2 – Any pinion size See Rule 6.4.1 For DRRC Specific Rule
4.3 – No modifications can be made to the transmission’s case (ie.. to allow a bigger gear ratio)
4.4 – The gear cover must be off at all times to allow for visual inspection (CARPET)…and removed if asked (DIRT)
4.5 – The only adjustments allowed to the car are those allowed by the original MFG components of the car
4.6 – You are allowed to use any original wheel spacer combination (Black, Grey or any combination of both)
4.7 – Transmission functionality rule (motor can not spin while turning slowly one rear wheel a full turn)
4.8 – Traxxas SLASH *STEEL* transmission gears only (internal plastic transmission gears not allowed)
4.9 – Adding weight (in any way) is not allowed, wheel balancing is allowed (sole purpose of balancing, not to add weight)

5 SUSPENSION

5.1 – TRAXXAS 2WD plastic shocks only (grey or black version) (fronts in front, rears in rear)
5.2 – Original Rear(TRAXXAS 5858) and Front springs (TRAXXAS 5857) (no LCG kit springs or aftermarket springs)
5.3 – Front springs may be cut in order to shorten them (no more than 5 round removed)
5.4 – The shock’s travel may be shortened with internal shims (ie..fuel tube or solid shims…)
5.5 – Original shafts in original cylinder (length and type in proper cylinder)
5.6 – Original pistons from kit only (original 1,2 or 3 hole), no modifications can be made to them
5.7 – No front bump stop suspension, a single original blue bump stop can be used per rear shock (not mandatory)
5.8 – No shimming allowed (to reduce slop in suspension parts)
5.9 – All suspension parts must remain in original positions it was designed for
***5.9.1 – rear camber links must remain in original height position (upper hole on shock tower not allowed)

6 LOOSE DIRT OVAL SPECIFIC RULES

6.1 – TRAXXAS SLASH or RAPTOR original chassis only (no LCG)
6.2 – TRAXXAS “spec” rubber tire/wheel/inserts only, any combination of those (ie..4 fronts, 4 rears, 3 front 1 rear…) (part# TRA5863-64-71-73-75) *NO ”S1” compound*SEE BELOW RULE 6.2.1 DIRTRUNNERS RULE:Any Traxxas premounted Shortcourse or Rally Tires in Standard or S1 Compound, no aftermarket rims or inserts allowed. Traxxas Rally Tire Part 7473R is recommended. All S1 Part Numbers: (7473R, 5873R, 5875R, 5882R, 6874R, 6873R). 
6.3 – No tire traction additives, Only a soft cleaner can be used for the sole purpose of cleaning the tire (ie..Simple Green)

6.4.1 DIRTRUNNERS GEAR RULE: 28/76
6.5 – all other rules specified earlier in sections 1-2-3-4-5 stays the same

7 LOOSE DIRT OVAL SETUP SUGGESTION FOR loose dirt type oval (spec TRAXXAS rubber tires)

7.1 Shocks: outer holes on all four A-arms / 2-hole pistons / 15 wt oil in LR,RR and 10wt in LF,RF / 0.625’’ limiter (fuel tube) in LF,RF and RR shocks / 0.400’’ (fuel tube) limiter in LR shocks.
7.1.1 Dirtrunners suggestion — Shock Limit of .375 all the way around. Shock Oils: 35RF, 27.5RR, LR, LF.
7.2 Rear hub carrier hinge pin location: Use the UPPER hole
7.3 Camber: LF 6 RF -1 LR 4 RR -4

***anything not mentioned in the above rules will not be allowed, or must be approved beforehand***

Oval1/8 Latemodel (elec)

This class is intended for racers looking to compete in 4wd 1/8th Scale Electric oval. The intent of the class is to race 1/8th scale Electric Late model oval cars or 1/8th scale electric buggies converted to late model oval cars.

**The driver must be 14 years old or older. The driver should have some racing experience.**

Section 1: Chassis

1.1: Must be 1/8 production based 4 WD buggy drive train.(Losi,Ofna,X-Ray and so on)
1.2: No offsetting a-arms or narrowing of a-arms
1.3: Must have dog bone center drive train, no on-road drive trains.
1.4: No one-off chassis. Example: If you have a homemade chassis you must make one for anyone who wants one at a reasonable price or let anyone copy it. As a manufacturer or a person who would make one for someone you don’t have to let them copy it.
1.5: Wheel base: 12 5/8″ to 13″
1.6: Width: 13″ max. – 11 1/4″ min.
1.7: Any and all parts must be flush or inside the tread width. 1/8 tolerance.
1.8: All chassis and tires must remain inside the body.
1.9: No metal or carbon fiber front bumpers.
1.10: Must have foam on the front bumper.

Section 2: Motor and battery

2.1 brushless motor intended for 1/8 racing, if airplane, boat or other brushless motor it must me similar in construction to the 1/8 motors and may not be any bigger in size than
1/8 motor. Must also cost same as other 1/8 motors and be commercially available

2.2 Lipo hardcase only no more than 4s and no more than 8000 mah. Capacity.

Section 3: Tranmissions/Differentials

3.1: No two speeds.
3.2: One ways and smart diffs. OK.

Section 4: Body

4.1: Molded one- piece bodies only.
4.2: No additional wings, flaps, spoilers, wickers, vents or doohickeys will be allowed except what’s in sections 4,5&9.
4.3: A hole or holes for motor cooling
4.4: Decking is allowed
4.5: There will be no metal body parts of any kind.
4.6: All bodies must be approved.

Section 5: Air Dam

Section 6: Rear Spoiler

6.1: Rear spoiler can only be as wide as the body at the rear quarter panels.
6.2: Rear spoiler 3″ max from deck.
6.3: The end caps must be a triangle shape. You may have one fin on the spoiler and two side caps. The third fin must also be the same dimension as side caps. It can be located anywhere on the
spoiler between the two side caps. The fin must be in line with the side caps on the front leading edge.

Section 7: Wheel & Tire

7.1: All wheels must be 17mm buggy based.
7.2: There will not be any grooving or sipping of the rubber tires.
7.3: Traction compounds are legal.

Note: The Bandito SC Tires will fit the 1/8th scale cars when mounted on DE Racing 17MM Hex SC wheels. Over the years we have tried other tires. So we will now accept any GT tire that does not have a belt and is legal for 1/8 GT Racing

Section 8: Weight

8.1: 8-1/2 lb. At any time

**Note: You MUST be an experienced marshal over the age of 14 to marshal the gas heats and/or mains.**

**Final note:  1/8 electric late model class allows nitro cars to run with the electrics. So to add extra runtime cushion a larger tank can be installed, enough to run an extra minute or so to allow a few hot laps lap and still finish the race easily and not need to always be topping off. If nitro class ever runs again the stock tank may need to be reinstalled because this is one difference from nitro that does not concern electrics. Right now Nitro late model rules say no larger tanks**

Oval & Off-RoadTraxxas Slash Spec

This class is intended for racers looking to compete in close, cost controlled racing, with realistic looking trucks.

If it’s not mentioned in the following rules, it is illegal.

Base Vehicle: Traxxas Slash 2WD.

Chassis/Components: Box Stock. RPM Rear Bumper Mount may be used (RPM 80902 (Black) and 80905 (Blue)) as well as the RPM Gear Cover (RPM 80525 (Blue) and 80522 (Black)), no other modifications or alternate parts are allowed unless specifically stated in the remainder of the SLASH rules.

Ride Height: Body on , battery in , ready to run: Dropped one foot – 2 3/8 ” minimum ride height at center of chassis.(Updated 11/29/13)

Body Clips: Any standard r/c body clip may be used (locking or regular).

Motor: Traxxas 3785 motor only, as per supplied with kit. Comm drops are not permitted.

Batteries: Roar approved 6 or 7 cell sub C battery pack, 2S Hard Cased LiPo battery or LiFeO4 Battery see general rules, batteries (April 2010). Soft case Traxxas lipo batteries must be
presented for inspection before use on the track.

Battery/Motor Connectors: Any allowed, not restricted to stock connectors.

Speed Control: Traxxas 3018X XL-5 speed control only (as supplied with the kit).

Servo: Traxxas 2075 servo only (Stock Servo supplied with the kit)

Radio/Receiver: Any ROAR allowed Radio/Receiver Combination is permitted, e.g. you may switch the receiver and transmitter from the units supplied with the vehicle.

Suspension: Must remain stock, the only alternate part allowed is the use of aluminum shock caps (Traxxas 2667) and the use of any silicone shock oil. No Modifications or alternate parts
allowed otherwise, e.g. no shock limiters, shortening of springs or drilling/filling of shock pistons.

Steering: Stock components only, no changes allowed.

Transmission: Stock transmission in box stock configuration only (Only grease may be used in any part of the transmission (including the differential), Silicone is specifically not allowed). Pinion gears are restricted to the 3 sizes (18T, 19T and 23T, 48 pitch – any manufacturer). Spur Gear is limited to the 86T and 90T (April 2010) 48 pitch spur gear as supplied with the vehicle (Traxxas 4686/5803) only.

Wheels/Tires: Limited to the tires and rims that come stock with the kit only (Traxxas Short Course Tires and Rims specifically made for the 2wd Slash, E.G. different rims front and rear, S1 compound is specifically not allowed). You may remove the chrome from the rims and dye to desired color and/or paint rims. When racing indoors, electrical tape may be applied to any of the 4 tires to reduce traction. (Updated April 2010)

Bodies: Only closed-wheel realistic SLASH bodies are allowed for approval, if you have a question, see the race director/board for a final determination of realistic. (April 2010)

Windows are not required to be left clear. Paint scheme is up to the individual. Scale realism is encouraged.

Ball Bearings: Allowed (as per supplied with kit) “no ceramic bearings and/or hybrid bearings allowed” other manufacturers bearings are permitted.

Air Dams: Not allowed.

Spoiler: Not allowed.

Transponder: Personnel Transponders are permitted and can be mounted anywhere on the vehicle that the owner sees fit.

LiPo Cut-Off/Warning: The use of a LiPo cut-off / warning alarm is allowed as long as there is no performance gain associated with the device.

Off-RoadRustler Spec

This class is for drivers racing trucks built to the specifications of the original kit. This class is intended for Traxxas Rustler trucks.

Chassis: Must use the stock chassis that is supplied with the truck kit. No modifications to suspension, ride height or weight allowed (Adjustable Tie Rods are allowed, RPM large hub carriers are allowed (along with larger diameter bearings), Traxxas Aluminum Shock Caps are allowed (March 2009)). Only specifically allowed alternate parts may be used, no other non-stock items may be used. (March 2009 Clarification)

Motor: ROAR approved 27t Stock Motor or a ROAR Approved 17.5 Brushless motor (March 2009).

Batteries: 6 cell 3000mah, sub c industry approved standard rechargeable battery (no matched batteries), e.g. an assembled sport pack (March 2008) or a 3200mah (maximum) 28C maximum current rating ROAR approved LiPo (March 2009).

Speed Control: Any manufactured over-the-counter speed control (that does not cause radio interference).

Suspension: Stock configuration, may change springs and oil only.

Steering: Rods, servo mounts, may be replaced with after-market equipment in the interest of durability, no other items may be modified/changed.

Transmission: Must use original transmission. Any spur/pinion gear combination allowed.

Wheels/Tires: Any wheel/tire manufactured by the industry for 1/10 2wd trucks, no pins allowed (see tech inspector for clarification on race day), Foam Tires are permitted indoors, granted
they are specifically made for the Rustler, and are a truck Tire (e.g. >2″ rim) (Clarified March 2009)

Bodies: Must use 1/10 scale truck body.

Ball Bearings: Allowed (no motor bearings)

Air Dams: Not allowed.

Spoiler: May not exceed the width of the body, and not extend more than 2 1/2″ past rear, (or front of) the body.

Off-Road1/8 Buggy Nitro

This class is intended for racer wishing to race 1/8th scale off-road nitro powered buggies. After-market parts are allowed, but stock configuration must be maintained (wheelbase, front and rear tire width, ride height, etc.).

**The driver must be 14 years old or older. The driver should have some racing experience.**

Motor: .21 size engine (RTR buggies that come with larger displacement engines will be allowed as well, but only rtr engines, no performance engines larger than .21 displacement)

Transmission: 4wd

Wheels/Tires: Any wheel/tire manufactured by the industry intended for 1/8th scale buggies.

Muffler/Headers: Must run a muffler. The vehicle cannot be louder than with the stock exhaust. No open headers.

Fuel Tank: Only Stock tank and smaller

Bodies: Any body specifically made for 1/8th scale off road buggies

Air Dams: Not allowed

Spoiler: Not allowed, 1/8th scale buggies may use a wing

Transponders: Must be mounted away from fuel, exhaust, and hot surfaces.

Off-Road2WD Mod Buggy

Bodies: Stock buggy body only.

Ball Bearings: Allowed

Off-Road2WD Stadium Truck

This class is for 2WD 1/10 scale electric modified off road trucks No weight restrictions

Chassis: Any 1/10th scale truck chassis that retains its original configuration.

Oval1/10 Sprint Car

This class is for 1/10th scale 2WD electric sprint cars only. The appearance of the car must meet the image of the world of outlaws sprint cars. No Weight Restrictions. Typically these cars are made from a conversion of a 1/10 scale 2wd electric buggy. This class does require a transmission, (no direct drive cars)

Chassis: No restrictions on chassis type, however car must include full roll cage, roll bars, side rails, and rear bumper/push-bar, (as per replica of actual sprint car)

Motor: Roar approved 540 brushed motor or any brushless motor (March 2008).

Batteries: Roar approved 6 cell sub C battery pack, 2S Hard Cased LiPo battery or LiFeO4 Battery– see general rules, batteries (April 2010).

Speed Control: Any system that does not cause radio interference.

Suspension: Any After-market 1/10th scale buggy replacement parts allowed.

Steering: After-market replacements parts allowed.

Transmission: Any manufactured transmission that meets ratio/reduction requirements. Two ratio reductions, the second being no less than 1.50/1.0 (gear, belt or chain).

Wheels/Tires: Any commercially available 1/10th scale buggy tires.

Bodies: 1/10th scale replica sprint car bodies only.

Ball Bearings: Allowed

Air Dams: Full top wing, made to scale, required. No Side dams. No metal wings. Front nose wing optional.

Off-Road1/10 Monster Truck

This class is for racer wishing to run a 1/10 scale 4WD, off road, modified Monster Truck.

**The driver must be 14 years old or older. The driver should have some racing experience.**

Chassis: Any 1/10th scale 4WD Monster Truck chassis with a wheelbase no longer than 12 inches. No weight limitation.

Motor: Any 540/550 brushed/brushless motor or equivalent or .15, 2.5R, 3.3R or eqivalent Nitro engine.

Batteries: Any Hard Cased LiPo battery or LiFeO4 Battery– see general rules, batteries (April 2010).

Fuel Tank: Open

Suspension: After-market replacement parts allowed.

Steering: After-market replacement parts allowed.

Transmission: Any original kit transmission case. All 4 wheels must be powered.

Wheels/Tires: Any wheels/tires specifically designed for 1/l0th scale Truggy/Truck cars, exception no dual wheels. Max diameter 4.5inches.

Bodies: Any body specifically made for the monster truck

Ball Bearings: Allowed.

Air Dams: No side dams.

Spoiler: May not exceed the width of the body, and may not extend more than 2 1/2″ past the rear of (or front of) the body. No front nose wings allowed.

Oval1/10 Monster Truck

4WD MONSTER TRUCK OVAL

This class is for racer wishing to run a 4WD, off road, modified Monster Truck. After-market parts are allowed.

**The driver must be 14 years old or older. The driver should have some racing experience.**

MONSTER TRUCK DEFINITON: A vehicle in which the lowest point of the engine/motor must sit at least 1.5″ inches above the lowest point along the front-back centerline when compressed (usually the “skid plates”). To tech questionable MTs, remove the wheels, place MT on a flat surface, compress the vehicle fully and a ruler (or 1.5″ gauge) should be used vertically to measure the distance between the underside of the engine/motor and the table surface.

Chassis: Any 4WD Monster Truck chassis with a wheelbase no smaller than 12” and no longer than 15”. No weight limitation.

Motor: Any 540,550, 1/8 scale brushed/brushless motor or equivalent or .15-.21 SMALL BLOCK nitro engine.

Batteries: Any Hard Cased LiPo battery maximum of 4s. Any receiver type battery allowed for nitro vehicles.

Transmission: Must have an enclosed multi-gear central transmission. Single, two-, or three-speed forward-only transmissions are allowed. NOTE: Reverse functions must be disabled for racing. Any spur/clutch gear combination is allowed. All 4 wheels must be powered.

Wheels/Tires: Any wheel/tire manufactured by the industry. Must have a minimum diameter of 4.55” and a minimum width of 2.25”. No maximum limitations on tire size.

Muffler/Headers: Must run a muffler. The vehicle cannot be louder than with the stock exhaust. No open headers.

Fuel Tank: No size Limitation

Bodies: Any body specifically made for the monster truck.

Bumpers: Optional. If used, they may not extend further than 1″ past the body, front or rear, and may not exceed the width across the inner edges if the tires to each side.

Skid Plates: Must not extend further than 1″ past the body, front or rear. Metal skid plates and chassis components are only allowed if safely attached and pose no danger to drivers, pit persons or turn marshals.

Ball Bearings: Allowed.

Air Dams: Not allowed.

Spoiler: A spoiler/wing is optional. 8th scale wings or smaller are permitted.

Transponders: Must be mounted away from fuel, exhaust, and hot surfaces.

**Note: You MUST be an experienced marshal over the age of 14 to marshal the gas heats and/or mains.**

Oval2WD Modified Truck

This class is for 2WD 1/10th scale electric trucks with a modified 540 sized motor. (No weight restrictions)

Chassis: Any 1/10th scale

Motor: Roar approved 540 brushed motor or any brushless motor (March 2008).

Batteries: Roar approved 6 cell sub C battery pack, 2S Hard Cased LiPo battery or LiFeO4 Battery– see general rules, batteries (April 2010).

Speed control: Any system that does not cause interference.

Suspension: After-market replacements allowed, including shock-tower and drive axle.

Steering: After-market replacement parts allowed (rods, servo mounts, etc.).

Transmission: Any commercially available transmission with proper ratio and reduction (see below). Must use two ratio reductions between motor and drive axle. Second reduction must be no less than 1.50/1.0 (gear, belt or chain) no direct drive.

Wheels/Tires: Any wheel/tire combination with total diameter of 4″ minimum (except: no dual wheels)

Bodies: Any 1/10th scale truck body

Ball Bearings: Allowed.

Air Dams: Height – 9 1/2″ maximum, from ground level to top edge of body. Length – 14 1/2″ maximum, may not extend more than 4″ beyond rear of body (February 2007).

Spoiler: May not exceed the width of the body, and not extend more than 2 1/2″ past rear (or front of) the body.

Oval1/10 EDM 8.5

This class is for a racer wishing to run a 1/10 scale 2wd electric buggy with a Brushless Motor and EDM Body.

Chassis: No pan cars, 2wd cars only

Motor: Brushless Motors only (ROAR Approved 8.5 turns maximum, No 3.5T to 7.5T)

Batteries: Roar approved 6 cell sub C battery pack, 2S Hard Cased LiPo battery or LiFeO4 Battery– see general rules, batteries (April 2010).

Speed Control: Any speed control system that does not cause radio interference.

Suspension: 4 Wheel Independent Suspension

Steering: Stock or after market allowed

Transmission: Must use original type transmission with proper gear ratio and reduction, must execute 2 reductions between motor and drive, the second being no less than 1.5 to 1.0, e.g. no direct drive.

Wheels/Tires: Any 1/10 Buggy tire

Ball Bearings: Allowed

Oval1/8 Latemodel (nitro)

This class is intended for racers looking to compete in 4wd 1/8th scale nitro oval. The intent of the class is to race 1/8th scale nitro late model oval cars or converted 1/8th scale nitro buggies to late model oval cars.

**The driver must be 14 years old or older. The driver should have some racing experience.**

Section 1: Chassis

1.1: Must be 1/8 production based 4 WD buggy drive train.(Losi,Ofna,X-Ray and so on)
1.2: No offsetting a-arms or narrowing of a-arms
1.3: Must have dog bone center drive train, no on-road drive trains.
1.4: No one-off chassis. Example: If you have a homemade chassis you must make one for anyone who wants one at a reasonable price or let anyone copy it. As a manufacturer or a person
who would make one for someone you don’t have to let them copy it.
1.5: Wheel base: 12 5/8″ to 13″
1.6: Width: 13″ max. – 11 1/4″ min.
1.7: Any and all parts must be flush or inside the tread width. 1/8 tolerance.
1.8: All chassis and tires must remain inside the body.
1.9: No metal or carbon fiber front bumpers.
1.10: Must have foam on the front bumper.

Section 2: Motor

2.1: Any .21 or less. Any .28 that came in an RTR kit until replacement is needed. Must be replaced with a .21.
2.2: Modding legal for .21 only.

Section 3: Tranmissions/Differentials

3.1: No two speeds.
3.2: One ways and smart diffs. OK.

Section 4: Body

4.1: Molded one- piece bodies only.
4.2: No additional wings, flaps, spoilers, wickers, vents or doohickeys will be allowed except what’s in sections 4,5&9.
4.3: A hole or holes for motor cooling
4.4: Decking is allowed
4.5: There will be no metal body parts of any kind.
4.6: All bodies must be approved.

Section 6: Rear Spoiler

6.1: Rear spoiler can only be as wide as the body at the rear quarter panels.
6.2: Rear spoiler 3″ max from deck.
6.3: The end caps must be a triangle shape. You may have one fin on the spoiler and two side caps. The third fin must also be the same dimension as side caps. It can be located anywhere on the
spoiler between the two side caps. The fin must be in line with the side caps on the front leading edge.

Section 7: Wheel & Tire

7.1: All wheels must be 17mm buggy based.
7.2: There will not be any grooving or sipping of the rubber tires.
7.3: Traction compounds are legal.

**Final note:  1/8 electric late model class allows nitro cars to run with the electrics. So to add extra runtime cushion a larger tank can be installed, enough to run an extra minute or so to allow a few hot laps lap and still finish the race easily and not need to always be topping off. If nitro class ever runs again the stock tank may need to be reinstalled because this is one difference from nitro that does not concern electrics. Right now Nitro late model rules say no larger tanks**
